Plastics as civilization's waste

We would like to take the current discussion about plastic packaging and its waste as an opportunity to state our position on this global problem. We ourselves process approximately 50,000 square meters of PET plastic film per year into high-quality display protection. Despite optimizing cutting contours and efficient, computer-aided, ecologically and economically sensible material utilization, a small remainder cannot be avoided as waste. However, these residual pieces are collected separately by us and fed into regional plastic recycling.

Responsibility for our environment and our fellow beings

Thus, Neoxum GmbH fully fulfills its responsibility to participate in active environmental protection. Our high-quality display protection also effectively and demonstrably contributes to significantly increasing the lifespan of electronic devices. With the help of high-quality Neoxum display film or the even more robust OnScreen® Hybrid glasses Screens and displays on electronic devices are effectively protected against mechanical damage. All of our customers, including many well-known brands and companies, are convinced of our display protection without exception. A very well-known name from the logistics industry equips its data collection devices worldwide with Neoxum display protection, thereby achieving a service life of the devices increased by more than 200%, simply because the touch display is no longer the weak point of the device. The main reasons for repairs and temporary failures are now electronic. Display damage or incorrect data entry due to scratched touchscreens are a thing of the past.

Environmental protection is of great importance to Neoxum GmbH.

This material possesses an extremely high Surface hardness with 9H according to ISO 15184 and with it extremely robust and significantly increases the lifespan of individual devices, especially their displays.“

Extremely effective surface protection or scratch protection

Our customers also use Neoxum screen protectors to protect high-quality surfaces, as they offer significantly better protection against damage compared to thin surface protection films or transport protection films. A typical transport protection film has a thickness of approx. 30-75 µm and usually consists of simple polypropylene (PP) or polyethylene (PE). With a thickness of 0.13 mm (Neoxum display films) or 0.22 mm (Neoxum OnSScreen Hybrid glass is our professional surface protection that is significantly stronger and therefore protects much better against mechanical damage to scratch-sensitive surfaces. Another essential aspect is the use of exclusively high-quality materials such as PET (Neoxum display film) and a PET glass composite (Neoxum). OnSScreen Hybrid glass), which shows incomparably higher penetration protection against mechanical stress than simple protective films. Expensive products are protected from damage through the use of sensible and high-quality surface protection. This sustainably contributes to waste prevention. The number of defective products during production, storage, and delivery decreases significantly.

Recycling of valuable materials

Paper and cardboard

As a manufacturer, we naturally also ship the display protection products we produce to our customers worldwide. We mainly use the packaging that we receive from our suppliers as shipping packaging. This significantly reduces the use of new, unused cardboard packaging. Of course, when using previously used cardboard packaging, care is taken to ensure that it is in a condition suitable for shipping and that the goods inside the boxes arrive at the recipient undamaged. If this amount of shipping packaging is not sufficient, we purchase recycled packaging material from regional suppliers (within a maximum radius of 100 km). The pure paper waste is also sorted for recycling in the blue paper garbage can and has also been significantly reduced in recent years. Thanks to very advanced digitalization in the company, we believe that paper consumption has been reduced enormously. We don't print out a single customer order or email. In principle, we only print the delivery bill and parcel labels. Thanks to our understanding customers, we can send almost 100% of our invoices digitally as PDF documents. Many thanks at this point!

Residual waste

Neoxum also takes responsibility in this area, of course.

„We currently have 7 employees in the company. These 7 employees only produce a 25-liter bag of residual waste in 2 weeks,“ says Pamela Boje, sales representative at Neoxum. She further explains, „Even though I've only been with the company for about six months, I consciously and convincingly embrace the idea of environmental protection, both privately and professionally.“

Unfortunately, it's not possible to pursue a 100%% no-waste strategy in professional life. But the results achieved are certainly impressive.

Conclusion

The statement from the environmental officer and owner of Neoxum GmbH, Dr. Alexander Darga, is: „It is a matter close to my heart, both personally and for the employees in the company, to carry the environmental idea forward. Our planet bears a very high human burden today, and if we are not careful and do not act decisively and quickly in all areas, we will leave our children an inheritance that none of us would ever wish for. Our children are determined to make the use of finite resources significantly better than all previous generations. With the „Fridays for Future protests Our young generation is practically screaming for a radical rethink. Everyone can contribute!“  

From the Minister of the Environment Svenja Schulze was presented with the 5-point plan at the end of 2018.. Only 2 of the 5 points have been implemented by Neoxum GmbH since its founding in 2009 and into the Corporate policy of the company integrated.

1. We recycle all recyclable materials: paper, cardboard, wood, plastics, metals, plastics (sorted by type).
2. An increase in the lifespan of end devices has already been confirmed by customers by up to 200%.
3. Resource-saving energy use through LED technology for lighting, use of virtualization technology to reduce energy consumption
